Total Races Sailed: 10 over 3 Days.
Day 1:
With 10 entrants the Dart 18 Regatta qualified as a Nationals Event.
Racing started on Friday 29 March 2024 in a rising wind 17 to 25 knots West.
The sea state was flat.
The Windward Leeward course was laid offshore East London and a total of 3 races were completed on the first day.
7 boats failed to finish with the Time Limit over these three races.
On the Bridge boat were:
- Colleen – Scribe
- Nathan Muller – Flags
Day 2: Day 2 greeted the fleet with a rising North East of 20 knots with 28 knot gusts and a rapidly rising swell.
An initial short course was lengthened and racing got underway at 11:00 am.
After two races racing was postponed until technical difficulties with a rescue duck were solved.
The fleet proceeded again to sea at 3:30 pm only for racing to be called off as technical difficulties surface again.
One boat exceeded the allowed finish time and 2 retired.
Day 3: With slightly lower North East wind than on Day 2 the fleet proceeded to sea at 8:30 to sail a Windward Leeward course.
A total of 5 races were sailed and boats retired as the sea state got bigger and bigger.
After 2 races another technical difficulty for one rescue duck saw the fleet retreat to the shore whilst the Bridge Boat stayed on station from 10:15 to 11:30 am.
Racing resumed at 11:45 am with 3 competitors finishing Races 8, 9 and 10.
After the start of the sequence for Race 11, Competitor RJ Green Retired with breakages and, with only one boat left on the course, racing was stopped and the series completed.
